Editing Original TomTom Voices
This tutorial with show you how to increase the volume on you favorite TomTom voice in order to make your pda some what louder.
Tools.
You will need to download:
VIFTOOL: Once download unzip it to you C:/ drive.
AUDACITY: Freeware Audio Editing Software.
WIN:VIFTOOL2: Which is a GUI Wizard Application that Graeme Lucas from tomtom.graemelucas.co.uk wrote and is much easier to use for the final stage of compressing the file.
Steps.
First copy the dataXX.chk and dataXX.vif (or dataXX.chk) to C:/viftool.

Then go to Start>Run>type CMD then hit OK.
Now your in DOS Prompt

Now your C:/viftool will look like this:

Now you need to add the 3db to each file, for this you need to use the AUDACITY software
Open each file and add the 3db.

Then go to File>Export as Ogg Vorbis and put it in a separate folder of your choice (I called mine +3db)
Now do this for all 59 files. Once you have finished you need to run WIN:VIFTOOL2
This one is self explainatory

Once you have your 2 new files called data71.chk and data71.vif edit the names to match the original tomtom files so that when you install it on your TomTom the right picture will appear.
It would be great if you could send me the files that you have transformed so that more people can benifit from their use, so just email them to me
